Research content
Aptamers are known as oligonucleotides that can bind to target molecules with high affinity and specificity. We have explored and applied DNA aptamers for detection of cells as stable substitutes for antibodies. For example, we have obtained CD4-specific DNA aptamers and applied them to detection of CD4-expressing cells by using fluorophore-modified aptamers. Pathological microbes are also our targets by using DNA aptamers as specific probes. Furthermore, we have developed multilayered glass slides and microplates and succeeded in the sensitive detection of marker proteins.

Research theme

1. Application of DNA aptamers to diagnostics for immunological disease
2. Rapid detection of pathological microbes using DNA aptamers and antibodies
3. Sensitive detection of marker proteins on multilayered glass slides and microplates
