In recent years, the advance of technologies has become accelerated, such as augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI). However, even if new technologies emerged, most of them are used by human beings. Therefore, we always need to pay attention to the relationship between human cognition and new technologies. For example, one advantage of AR is the intuitive presentation of visual information directly in the user's field of view, potentially leading to easier comprehension. However, this AR information may also occlude the real world, hindering the observation of crucial objects. Thus, new technologies might lead to new problems that have never existed in the past. To tackle this kind of problem, we have to think about not only the technologies themselves, but also the characteristics of human beings. The purpose of our laboratory is to investigate the human information processing when advanced technologies are used from the viewpoint of cognitive psychology. |
