CHI 2008, sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM/SIGCHI) was held in Florence, Italy from April 5th to April 10th, 2008. At the event, a paper titled, “Precision Timing in Human-Robot Interaction: Coordination of Head Movement and Utterance”, in which Associate Prof. Yamazaki is listed as the head writer, was selected among 20 percent of the submitted papers and won the Honorable Mention Paper Award, which is given to less than 5 percent of all submitted papers. The paper is a result of joint research between sociologists and engineers on the interaction of humans and robots.
In addition, this is the first time ever for a paper listing a Japanese professor as the head writer to win the award.

■Comment from Associate Prof. Yamazaki:
It is all thanks to my co-writers that the paper won the award. I will continue devoting myself to this field.
