1947 Soubi Gakuen was established - authorized as special institute
1953 Japan School of Television Technology was established
1955 Name of the school was changed to Japan Specialized Academy of Television Technology
1956 Authorized as School Corporation, and the name of the school was changed to Japan Specialized School of Television Technology
1964 The school was renamed as Japan Electronic Engineering Academy
1976 As the School Education Law Article 82-2 was enacted, establishment of specialized course for engineering / art was approved.The school was then renamed as Japan Specialized School for Engineering
1982 Nippon Engineering Collage in Hokkaido was opened in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido
1986 Tokyo University of Technology was opened in Hachioji, Tokyo
1987 Nippon Engineering Collage of Hachioji was opened in Hachioji, Tokyo
1993 Graduate School of Tokyo University of Engineering was opened
1997 The name of the school corporation was changed to Katayanagi Institute, in commemoration of 50th anniversary
2001 Nippon Engineering Collage newly opened its School of Medical Services
2002 Nippon Engineering Collage of Hachioji newly established its School of Medical Services
Nippon Engineering Collage of Hokkaido newly established its School of Medical Services
2003 By Katayanagi Institute’s collective effort, the cutting-edge center of intelligence, Katayanagi Advanced Research Laboratories, was opened in Hachioji campus
